We are expanding our operations in the United States and bringing on board people who are humble, creative, and eager to learn.

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Collections Strategy & Risk Manager.

About the role

We are hiring a Collections Strategy & Risk Manager to own end-to-end collections for our B2C revolving credit card portfolio, issued under a BIN sponsorship.

This is not a traditional call-center management role. Our collections engine runs primarily on automation. The wins in our setup come from sharper strategy, smarter ML routing, well-governed vendors, and clean compliance, not from headcount on the phones.

The role sits inside Risk Management and reports directly to the CRO. You'll work closely with the Risk team day-to-day and partner across Data, Compliance, Legal, and Product to design, govern, and continuously improve how we collect.

You'll also be the primary internal point of contact with the BIN Sponsorship bank on collections strategy, exceptions, and reporting. That makes this a senior, regulated, bank-facing position, the kind of role where strategic judgment and operational rigor matter equally.

Reporting line and team

This position is under the direct supervision of the CRO. You'll be a full member of the Risk Management team. The expectation is that you operate within that team's rhythm, including risk committee preparation, portfolio reviews, policy governance, and audit support, while owning collections as your specific area of responsibility.

Your closest day-to-day collaborators outside Risk will be:

  • Data and Analytics for collections scores, propensity-to-pay models, and the ML engine that powers automated journeys.
  • Compliance and Legal for FDCPA, Regulation F, and sponsorship bank program-level adherence.
  • Product and Operations for self-service repayment flows, app/web payment portals, and customer experience.
  • Bank stakeholders for strategy approvals, reporting, and audit readiness.

Key responsibilities:

Collections strategy and portfolio ownership

  • Own the end-to-end collections strategy for the revolving credit card portfolio, from early-stage delinquency through pre-charge-off and post-charge-off recovery.
  • Define and maintain segmentation, treatment paths, policy rules, contact strategies, hardship and forbearance, settlements, and payment plans, aligned with the bank’s risk appetite.
  • Monitor delinquency roll-rates, cure rates, charge-offs, and recovery performance. Propose and implement strategy changes to improve outcomes.
  • Translate business objectives, loss targets, NPL ratios, and customer-experience goals into measurable KPIs and dashboards.

Data-driven and ML-enabled collections

  • Lead the design and continuous optimization of automated, ML-driven collections journeys, including segmentation logic, channel selection, timing, and offer strategies.
  • Partner closely with Data Science and Analytics to develop and refine collections models - collections scores, propensity-to-pay, contact and offer optimization, roll-rate prediction.
  • Define data requirements for collections models - feature sets, event tracking, behavioral and transactional data, and work with data engineering to ensure high-quality data flows.
  • Set up and govern A/B tests and champion-challenger frameworks for new strategies, channels, and messages, with robust measurement and controlled experimentation.

Sponsor bank relationship

  • Act as the primary internal point of contact with the sponsorship bank on collections strategy, exceptions, and program reporting.
  • Ensure all collection strategies remain consistent with the bank program agreements, SLAs, and the regulatory expectations applicable to the sponsoring bank.
  • Prepare and present regular performance updates and strategy proposals to internal risk committees and bank stakeholders, including roll-rate trends, loss forecasts, and stress scenarios.
  • Collaborate with the bank’s risk and operations teams to obtain approvals for new strategies, policy changes, and exceptions in line with bank-level risk standards.
  • Lead bank approval workflows for new payment rails (ACH direct debit, GreenDot eCash, and others), navigating NACHA authorization and program-level partnership requirements.

Vendor and tooling management

  • Act as primary business owner for collections-related platforms, dialers, payment portals, SMS/email service providers, external collection agencies, and legal partners.
  • Lead vendor selection and onboarding for external collections partners. Define scopes of work, SLAs, performance KPIs, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage ongoing vendor performance through regular reviews, portfolio allocations, waterfall strategies, and champion-challenger testing across agencies.
  • Coordinate with procurement, legal, and vendor risk management to ensure contracts and governance meet the sponsorship bank’s and regulatory standards.

Compliance, governance, and controls

  • Ensure every collection strategy, script, and automated journey complies with US consumer protection laws, including the FDCPA, CFPB Regulation F, TCPA, and card program rules.
  • Maintain a comprehensive collections policy and procedure framework that documents strategies, model uses, decision rules, and exception processes.
  • Implement robust controls around automated decisioning - approval workflows, ML model drift monitoring, and guardrails to prevent unfair or non-compliant treatments.
  • Own the production of regular collections performance and risk reports for senior management, the sponsorship bank, and regulators or auditors when required.
  • Support internal and external audits with documentation, evidence of controls, and remediation plans for any findings.

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Partner with Product and Customer Operations to design self-service repayment flows (app and web), hardship journeys, and customer-friendly resolutions that improve recoveries and satisfaction.
  • Provide feedback to underwriting and product teams on emerging risk patterns, early-warning indicators, and segments requiring policy changes.
  • Work with the Data team to define data models, event tracking, and reporting that support real-time monitoring of collections performance and customer behavior.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, and Marketing to ensure all communications and decision-making meet regulatory and program-level standards.

Required qualifications:

Experience

  • 5+ years in consumer credit risk, collections strategy, or portfolio management - preferably credit cards or revolving credit.
  • Proven experience working with automated or ML-driven collections tools, customer journey orchestration, or advanced decisioning engines.
  • Strong understanding of the credit card lifecycle, from acquisition and line management through delinquency, charge-off, and recovery, ideally under a BIN sponsorship or partner-bank model.
  • Experience managing or collaborating with external vendors, collection agencies, legal partners, and technology providers.

Technical and analytical skills

  • High fluency with data: SQL, BI/dashboard tools, and experimentation platforms. Able to translate insight into action without waiting for an analyst.
  • Comfortable working with data scientists on model design, validation, and monitoring.
  • Strong grasp of A/B testing, champion-challenger design, and how to measure collection strategies in a controlled way.

Regulatory and program knowledge

  • Working knowledge of US consumer-collections regulation: FDCPA, CFPB Regulation F (including the 7-in-7 rule, validation notices, and electronic-communication requirements), and TCPA basics.
  • Familiarity with sponsor-bank operating models and the governance expectations that come with them.
  • Comfort working closely with Compliance and Legal on script and journey approvals.

Soft skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management. Comfortable presenting to senior risk leadership and external bank partners.
  • Clear written communication - policy documents, risk committee papers, audit responses.
  • Ownership mindset. Comfortable being the person accountable for the function, not the person waiting for direction.

Preferred qualifications

  • Direct experience with US-issued credit card portfolios or US-based bank sponsors.
  • Background in fintech or digital-first B2C lenders running highly automated, digital collections strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with ML-driven collections platforms.
  • Exposure to model risk management, ML governance, or model explainability for credit and collections models.
  • Prior P&L responsibility for collections loss budget ownership, forecasting, and stress testing.
  • Experience with payment-rail expansion: ACH direct debit, debit-card payments, digital wallets, GreenDot eCash, or similar.

Compensation, benefits, and process

We offer a competitive base salary with a performance bonus tied to a balanced scorecard that rewards sustainable, long-term results rather than short-term recovery volume. A discretionary modifier applies, so serious compliance or audit incidents can reduce the payout.

The role is fully remote within the United States and comes with the standard Access Finance benefits package, which we'll walk through at the offer stage. You'll have a direct line to the leadership of a regulated, automated, fast-moving consumer credit card program with European roots and a US growth mandate.

Our hiring process is deliberately tight. We respect your time and don't run interview marathons.
